Business Interiors About

Thirty years of offices, and a fresh start

Business Interiors began in Plymouth in 1992, supplying furniture to local offices. It grew into a design and fit-out business that worked from Cornwall to the City of London. Now the name is back, with the same belief at its centre: an office should make working life better, and it does not take an extravagant budget to achieve that.

What has not changed

It is not about the size of the budget

Most people spend more of their waking life at work than anywhere else. Too many organisations still treat the office as a cost to be minimised, when it can be one of the strongest tools they have for attracting good people and helping them do their best work.

An office move or refurbishment is a rare chance to get that right. The question is never how much is in the budget; it is how well the budget is used. That means spending time on the early decisions, being honest about what a building can and cannot do, and designing for the way people actually work rather than the way an organisation chart says they should.

Questions

About the relaunch

Is this the same company?

The name, the archive of projects and the experience behind them are the same. The original operating company closed in 2023, and Business Interiors has relaunched as a new, smaller practice.

Are the projects on this site current?

No. The projects shown are previous work, completed by Business Interiors before 2023. They are kept here because they show the kind of thinking and quality the practice stands for.

How are projects run now?

Project by project. Strategy, planning and design advice is provided directly, and specialist designers, contractors and suppliers are brought in as each project needs them, with clear contracts and clear responsibilities.
